Our star child lost, returned to life through Drops of Hope, shortly afterwards I found my long-lost father.<\/p>\n<p>February 12th is always a special day. On February 12, 2006, my beloved mom passed away. Since then, a candle has always burned that day, also in my heart, while meditating, while praying.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-twenties, orphan, all alone. The passport reads: &#8220;Father: unknown&#8221;.<br \/>I never knew my father. He was not important.<br \/>I never asked any further. He wasn&#8217;t missing. My mother was everything to me.<br \/>For a long time, I got along well on my own. Adolescence, work, partnership and the desire to have family and children fully fulfilled. But no one can be whole and one with one half alone.<\/p>\n<p>With the return of hope and confidence, through macro photography, more spirits found their way back to me. One of these messengers of fate awakened the irresistible desire to rediscover my native Cameroon and look for my father there. I didn&#8217;t know much about him. He was supposed to be from a neighboring village. A healer, a serpent worshiper.<\/p>\n<p>A magical figure, so far and yet so close. So close, in Cameroon, just a few hours&#8217; flight away; so far, in the heart, far away, at a safe distance. The stranger who had never looked for me, who promised danger, risk and pain in the soul.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m starting a new series. Drops of Fate. It is an expression of the Cameroonian joie de vivre, the warmth of the African continent and the search for father and family. The need for identity, for belonging, for unconditional love finds expression in energetic photographs. The passion is revived. The emotional sparks ignite the fire for countless happy hours of photography, immersed in fantastic dreams and hopeful expectations.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Beautiful homeland, happy Cameroon. Tears of joy, overwhelming, the red earth, the many black people, the colorful hustle and bustle. So one visit passed, then another. The time had come for the third trip home. I was ready. A great-aunt bridges the gap and helps in the search for the mysterious stranger who is my father.<\/p>\n<p>Who was he? Would he recognize me? Did he want to get to know me? Would he accept me?<br \/>Would he love me? Would he hurt me?<br \/>Would I recognize him? Would I like him? Could I forgive him?<br \/>Could I love him? Would I let him down?<\/p>\n<p>February 12th 2020, WhatsApp Call from Cameroon, your father, we found him, he&#8217;s here.<br \/>Start of an incredible journey, into the past, the present, and the future.<br \/>This is followed by Covid-19, countless video and WiFi calls, and two more trips to visit \u201cPapa\u201d in Cameroon.<\/p>\n<p>The father I never knew, never missed, fills my heart. The loneliness of being abandoned is lost in love, understanding and security. I find myself in him and him in me. Forty years of separation suddenly make sense. My fate turns from eternal enemy to loyal friend, my life from one-way street to a way to Rome.<\/p>\n<p>Finally I am whole, one, one with myself. 100%. Completely. One.<br \/>My photography and I, also one, whole, lively, colorful, confident.<br \/>I&#8217;m experiencing a great, wonderful adventure. The processing of such is the basis of my passion for macro photography. The recognition of the great in the small, the discovery of hidden wonders of nature and the acceptance of the unfathomability of creation led me back to life. In countless days and hours spent in the green, I found renewed hope and confidence, courage and zest for life by photographing the inner and outer worlds of raindrops.<\/p><p>Tristine, my first macro photograph, was taken on a sad morning. The sky was as gloomy as my thoughts. I sat at the kitchen table and after my second coffee all I wanted to do was go back to bed, pull the covers over my head. My empty gaze stared out the kitchen window as if remotely controlled. Suddenly I found myself in a completely different world. Deep black and beautiful, I saw all my despair in a single little raindrop. Suddenly I was with myself again. Suddenly I felt understood. Suddenly I was no longer alone in my grief. Fascinated and magnetically attracted, I opened the door to the garden and stepped out to capture this gift of nature forever.<\/p><p>Soon I had found in the rain a friend in the loneliness of grief and the hopelessness of parting. Gray rainy days became my allies and gave me the backdrop for countless more photographs. I could participate in life again, had to be awake and present to capture these ephemeral phenomena in the wind, rain and cold. Raindrops became my faithful companions. They were there for me, always and at any time, then when I needed them. Like beings from another time, never asking, expecting nothing, unlike the many good people to whom I no longer found access.<\/p><p>The first images of the series Drops of Hope reflected the first stages of my grieving process. Shock, disbelief, anger, frustration, hopelessness, deep sadness and depression became visible, tangible and experienced. These drops became witnesses to my saying goodbye, to me giving farewell to my star child, Chris (CROSS) 12\/30\/2015 R.I.P.<\/p><p>The last picture of this dark phase I titled Monster. In it, I encapsulated the traumatic experience of stillbirth in a single drop for eternity.<\/p><p>Soon after, the images changed.<\/p><p>Dull drops shone, lights became brighter and colors livlier. At first, I barely noticed. The healing phase had begun imperceptibly. But soon it unfolded its full power. The image la nidation stands for the newly discovered hope. My state of mind showed itself in happy, healing pictures.<\/p><p>The takes that followed testify to the newfound courage and confidence. Life takes possession of me again. It shows itself in all its splendor. My friends and companions flow into new forms and intense colors. Great gratitude now fills me. I feel richer and more fulfilled than ever before. I now succeed in staging drops in their most fascinating inner worlds and place them in unusual perspectives.<\/p><p>I am reborn. A passion is born.<br \/>Today a rainy day is always also a beautiful day, an ideal day for photography!<br \/>Creativity fills me and nourishes me. I want more, more life, more creativity. I find again to the people, the dear old friends.
